Existing Coin Street Co-ops

There are four housing co-operatives at Coin Street so far: Iroko, Mulberry, Palm and Redwood.

Fifty per cent of the small number of vacancies that arise at Palm, Redwood and Iroko must be offered to households put forward by Lambeth and Southwark councils. The other half can be let to people who apply to the co-operatives directly.

Developing to deal with new challenges

When we set up our organisation in 1984, the greatest threat to our neighbourhood came from the rapid loss of residential population and the closure of shops and schools. Things have changed! Now, the numbers living and working in the area are rapidly increasing. But at the same time, the local authorities that traditionally invested in community facilities face shrinking budgets. They’re looking to others to step in. Lambeth and Southwark have some of the highest obesity rates in the country, and surveys show that those living and working in the area are crying out for a local public swimming pool.

Doon Street development

An exciting development of new homes of exceptional quality to buy is planned for the Doon Street site. The mixed use scheme, designed by award-winning architects Lifschutz Davidson Sandilands, features over 300 one and two bedroom leasehold flats in an elegant landmark tower affording panoramic views of London. The homes are part of a major development for the site which will also include a public swimming pool and indoor leisure facilities, and commercial (shops and cafes) activities at ground level to create a lively streetscape.

The development is split into three phases, all of which have planning consent. The first phase - Rambert Dance Company's headquarters - was completed in 2013. We’re currently working on phase two, which includes the swimming pool, leisure facilities and 236 flats for sale and for letting at less than half of market rents.

These new homes to buy will be the first commercial housing we have developed. The homes will benefit from our track record of developing excellent contemporary design homes and be part of a thriving neighbourhood on London’s South Bank. The development is destined to be an exciting addition to the London skyline.

We are also working on a mixed development which will include a 78-bedroom care home, and further community facilities.
